About Pacific Environment’s Blog

Children that are part of an environmental education campaign in rural Gansu, China

Pacific Environment is dedicated to protecting the living environment of the Pacific Rim. We believe the most sustainable, long-term approach to protecting the environment is to support local communities – after all, they are the ones that have to drink the water and breathe the air.

While this strategy may be unconventional, we’ve proven ourselves to be powerhouses of conservation and social change. With our grassroots partners, we’ve preserved millions of acres of forests, conserved pristine watersheds, and protected threatened species like the Siberian tiger and Amur leopard. We’ve forced oil, gas, and mining companies to apply higher standards to resource extraction projects and changed the way some of the world’s most powerful financial institutions approach development lending.

This blog serves to bring some of our partners stories to light and to provide both local and international perspectives on some of the world’s most challenging environmental problems. Most importantly, we want to start a global dialogue on how to protect the Pacific Rim’s wildlife and wild places.
