Renewable Energy

Solar panels in Altai community, Russia.

Around the Pacific Rim, Pacific Environment works with communities to develop and implement more suitable energy alternatives to oil and gas extraction, mineral mining, and mammoth hydroelectric dams. For decades, we have promoted alternative energy sources in the regions around the North Pacific to reduce fossil fuels usage. In Russia, our partners in the greater Altai region have worked for many years to make alternative energy sources - including solar and micro-hydro - viable. Today, the Altai serves as a model region within Russia: villagers install solar panels on their homes, local officials speak publicly about the benefits of renewable energy, and business leaders from other regions travel to the Altai to learn about sustainable energy systems. In our home state, Pacific Environment is working to hold California accountable to achieving its renewable energy targets. We believe California can and must remain the U.S. leader in renewable energy development and implementation. Click here to learn more about our renewable energy work in California.
