Communities

A central tenet of our work has been that local communities should have as much - or more - influence over environmental decision making as large international organizations. As such, Pacific Environment has shaped new approaches to international environmental work by listening to our partners and finding ways to provide direct support to communities around the Pacific Rim. In the U.S., we also respect tribes' legal status as sovereign nations and support tribes in holding the U.S. government in their trust obligations with tribes.

By providing direct support to communities and local organizations, strengthening coalitions, facilitating local community involvement in international processes, and engaging in direct advocacy, Pacific Environment is protecting the Pacific Rim for future generations.
