Sacred Sites
The Ukok Plateau is home to thousands of sacred sites, prehistoric rock paintings (petroglyphs) left by various ancient civilizations that lived in this area. Currently, Pacific Environment is supporting a local indigenous knowledge expert and historian Maya Erlenbaeva to map sacred sites on the Ukok Plateau.
Katun Dam: Old problems, new solutions
Planned large hydroelectric dams, especially on the Katun River, continue to threaten the overall environment and sustainable development of Republic of Altai and Altai Krai.
