Vietnam leads the way toward a zero waste future

Earlier this month, more than 80 changemakers gathered in Da Nang, Vietnam for a workshop on zero-waste solutions hosted by Pacific Environment and partners. Leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region shared success stories, identified challenges and strengthened commitments to building cleaner, more sustainable communities — without relying on landfills or incineration. From refill stations and plastic-free schools to ambitious national policy shifts, Vietnam is proving what’s possible when communities unite for change.

Stand.earth, Troublemakers, the University of Washington Institutional Climate Action and Pacific Environment’s Ship It Zero campaign partner for a mock Amazon recruitment event

Activists staged a satirical “Amazon career fair” at the University of Washington to call out the company’s climate and labor record. Hosted by Stand.earth, Institutional Climate Action UW, and Troublemakers — with support from Pacific Environment’s Ship It Zero campaign — the event urged students to consider Amazon’s environmental and human health impacts before pursuing careers with the company.
From 2019 to 2023, Amazon’s ocean shipping pollution jumped 26%. That’s why Ship It Zero urges the e-commerce giant to honor their commitments to clean up their polluting ocean shipping.
