Pacific Environment Applauds Confirmation of Yana Garcia as Secretary for Environmental Protection
SACRAMENTO (February 29, 2023) – Today, Yana Garcia was confirmed by the CA Senate Rules Committee as the Secretary of Environmental Protection for the State of California, where she oversees the state’s efforts to fight climate change. Secretary Garcia has a proven track record of environmental leadership and advocacy.
She has served in numerous roles in the environmental and health sectors, including as the Deputy Secretary for Environmental Justice and Tribal Affairs at the California Environmental Protection Agency and has crafted and implemented environmental policies as a policy advisor to Governor Gavin Newsom.
